We explored the NYCB Archives and Costume Shop, studying the most memorable performances and seeing first-hand the dedication of its atelier in bringing the stage to life with fashion. Designed with New York City Ballet to bridge the creativity of the theater with the rhythm of the city, translated onto silk. The central red ombre is our contemporary take on the iconic tutu, as featured in many of New York City Ballet’s performances. The supporting motif pattern honors the shared synesthesia of fashion and dance.
