Bonnet sizing for Clementine Sleepwear
At Clementine, we've designed our bonnets to be larger, with adjustable straps to size down. This helps us to achieve a 92% fit certainty. If you're having any issues, here's some tips to help you out. We will be updating this page with more videos to address issues such as:
- Overall too tight - or feels uncomfortable
- Overall too loose
- Slipping off over night
About our bonnet fit
Designing the perfect bonnet isn’t simple. Every head shape, hair texture, and sleep style is different — What one person describes as tight, another calls comfortable. At Clementine, we’ve worked thoughtfully to create bonnets that fit as many people as possible, designing our standard size with extra room and adjustable ties for a more custom fit. Still, we know it won’t be perfect for everyone —
General rules for selecting your bonnet size
We've been designing multiple sizes so that we can offer more options for those with different hair types. Here’s some general rules to help you make the right choice:
For smaller heads: choose standard
Choose the Standard size and adjust the internal tie for a snug fit.
If standard size is too large
If the straps don’t provide a tight enough fit, try using an outer elastic band to secure the bonnet to your head firmly. We’re also exploring an XS size, designed for children and petite head sizes. If this is something you’re looking for, we’d love to hear from you.
For voluminous, long, or thick and textured hair:
Our XL bonnets are designed with more internal space and a wider opening.
If your XL bonnet is still too small:
Let us know! XL is designed to extend our fit profile to 99% of customers. If it’s still too small, send us a video showing the issue and we’ll offer you a one-time 100% refund. We’ll use the video as research for a possible XL+ bonnet release.
The adjustable strap
Have you tried using the adjustable strap in different ways to tie a knot or bow once you have it settled on the head? We find that some customers like to tie it first before they put it on, while others prefer to tie it once it's on.
